Travelscope goes into administration
Travelscope Holidays, the Gloucester-based company,
which runs worldwide escorted tours plus ocean and river
cruise programs, has ceased taking bookings. Paul Clark,
Phil Duffy and Andrew Stoneman of Menzies Corporate
Restructuring were appointed joint administrators. A
Menzies statement said: "All trading activities have
been suspended and no further holiday bookings are being
taken. "Please note that both the company's and the

Tralliance is changing dot-travel rules
Tralliance, the company that controls the dot-travel
Internet domain, is introducing several controversial
policy changes designed to bring serious Web traffic to
dot-travel sites. The new policies, which remove
some restrictions on who can own dot-travel domain names
and impose new rules on registrants, were approved in
November by The Travel Partnership Corp., the domain's
advisory and oversight body. The policy shifts,
some of which are fundamental, will take full effect in
January. But one of the most important changes -- doing

Recently, the United States Congress passed a Federal
budget that delays the passport requirements for
Americans on the borders of Canada, Mexico, and the
Caribbean. If approved by President Bush, this
means Americans re-entering the country by land will not
need a passport until mid 2009. This possible
postponement affects Americans re-entering the U.S. by
land only and not by sea or air; therefore not
changing or delaying the requirements for Americans
entering the United States at any airport.
